Lu Zhang
Lu Zhang is an artist and arts worker currently serving as the Executive Director of A Blade of Grass (aBoG), where she partners with an artist-led board to nurture socially engaged art. Prior to aBoG, she was the Initiatives Director at United States Artists (USA), a national arts funder, where she launched a department focused on expanding holistic support for artists, including key programs like Disability Futures and Artist Relief. Before her tenure at USA, Lu was Deputy Director of The Contemporary in Baltimore, where she provided strategic oversight and led initiatives for local artists. As an artist, Lu works across various mediums, from books and installations to interventions and collaborations. She is the founder of the Institute for Expanded Research and has collaborated with organizations such as Press Press and The George Peabody Library. She holds an MFA from the Frank Mohr Institute and a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
