Tameka Royal was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Democracy Prep Public Schools in 2025. A transformational education leader, she has dedicated her career to advancing student achievement, educational equity, developing exceptional leaders, and building high-performing, sustainable school systems. Her experience spans roles as a superintendent, professor, entrepreneur, and network leader, all rooted in a deep commitment to academic excellence. She began her career teaching elementary school in Atlanta and was a Founding Turnaround Teacher at Democracy Prep Public Schools, where her leadership propelled her into the role of Principal. She returned to Democracy Prep in April 2025 as Chief Schools Officer. Now as CEO, she brings her vision, proven leadership, and unwavering belief in the potential of every scholar to guide Democracy Prep into its next chapter.
