A new art world trend is well under way, and the big players are, well, professional basketball players. Bleacher Report mapped out the trend, citing four areas of the art world basketball stars are dabbling in most: Player-created art and events (Dwayne Wade recently used basketballs covered in paint to make paintings), customized player art (Blake Griffin had a 3-D sculpture made for his L.A. home), performance art (halftime entertainer and speed artist David Garibaldi also paints players’ portraits), and art investment (Deron Williams hired an art advisor to help him decorate his New York penthouse).
