Founded in France in the late 19th century by Nathan Wildenstein, Wildenstein & Co. grew from a tailor’s chance encounter with art into one of the most influential dealerships in the world, later expanding under his son Georges, who pioneered rigorous art-historical research and the celebrated catalogues raisonnés. Now led by Guy Wildenstein, the gallery continues its legacy of scholarship and exhibition, focusing on Old Masters and 19th- and early 20th-century movements, with landmark shows such as The Arts of France (2006) and a 2007 Monet retrospective honoring Daniel Wildenstein’s five-decade study of the artist.
