Alexei Ratmansky

Alexei Ratmansky is a renowned Russian choreographer and former ballet dancer. He was born on August 27, 1968, in St. Petersburg, Russia. Ratmansky had a distinguished dancing career, performing with several prestigious companies including the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, and Ukrainian National Ballet. However, he is best known for his work as a choreographer. He served as the artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet from 2004 to 2008 and has been the artist in residence at the American Ballet Theatre since 2009. Ratmansky has created works for many of the world’s leading ballet companies, and his innovative choreography, which often draws on classical ballet traditions while incorporating contemporary movements, has earned him critical acclaim and numerous awards.
