Alphonse Mucha’s Monumental, 20-Canvas ‘Slav Epic’ Will Finally Have a Permanent Home

Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939), born in Ivančice, Czech Republic, was a prominent artist of the Art Nouveau movement, known for his decorative and intricate illustrations, posters and designs. His iconic works include the series of posters for actress Sarah Bernhardt. Mucha's art is characterized by its flowing lines, ornate details, and use of natural forms. His works are part of collections at the Mucha Museum in Prague and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Mucha's style remains influential in graphic design and decorative arts.
