Barry Flanagan
Barry Flanagan (1941–2009), born in Prestatyn, North Wales, was a British sculptor famous for his dynamic, often whimsical bronze sculptures of hares, which became his signature motif. Early in his career, Flanagan's work was aligned with the conceptual art movements of the 1960s, involving sand, cloth, and rope, emphasizing the process and materiality of art. His later shift to bronze sculptures in the early 1980s marked a departure into more traditional forms, though he imbued these with a playful, dynamic energy that challenged conventional sculpture tropes.
