Bernie Sanders
Bernie Sanders is an American politician and activist who has served as a U.S. Senator from Vermont since 2007. Born on September 8, 1941, he is an independent who caucuses with the Democratic Party. Sanders is known for his progressive platform, advocating for policies such as Medicare for All, tuition-free public college, and a Green New Deal. He gained national prominence through his 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns, which energized a large base of progressive voters. Prior to the Senate, he served as the Mayor of Burlington and as a U.S. Representative.
