Cathy Berberian
Cathy Berberian (1925-1983) was an American mezzo-soprano and composer, renowned for her versatile voice, theatrical flair, and commitment to contemporary music. Berberian collaborated with several leading 20th-century composers, including Luciano Berio, John Cage, and Igor Stravinsky, premiering many pieces written specifically for her unique vocal talents. Notably experimental, she ventured beyond classical repertoires, interpreting works from the Beatles to medieval music.
