This dark and melodramatic story could easily have taken a turn into Lifetime territory. But Lively and her director/co-star Justin Baldoni keep it on track.

Any movie with only two characters in a confined space for close to two hours had better be pretty terrific to avoid sinking into the kind of incalculable claustrophobia that is alarmingly evident in Christy Hall's directorial debut.
