David Paterson
David Paterson is an American politician who served as the 55th Governor of New York from 2008 to 2010. Born on May 20, 1954, he is a member of the Democratic Party and the first African American to hold the office of New York Governor. Paterson, who is legally blind, succeeded Eliot Spitzer following Spitzer's resignation. Before becoming governor, he served as Lieutenant Governor of New York and was a member of the New York State Senate. His tenure focused on fiscal reforms and addressing the state's economic challenges.
