Derrick Adams, born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1970, is a contemporary American artist whose multifaceted work spans painting, collage, sculpture and performance. Adams' early career was influenced by his studies at the Pratt Institute and Columbia University, where he earned his MFA. His art often explores themes of African American identity, culture, and the representation of Black bodies in visual media. Adams is best known for his vibrant, mixed-media portraits and installations that celebrate Black life and culture. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums such as the Museum of Arts and Design in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Read more about Arts.
