Gordon Parks
Gordon Parks (1912-2006) was a groundbreaking American artist renowned for his work as a photographer, filmmaker, musician, and writer. Best known for his photojournalism documenting the lives of African Americans and the civil rights movement, he was the first African American staff photographer for Life magazine, where he worked for two decades. Parks also directed several films, including the iconic "Shaft" (1971), and authored books like the semi-autobiographical "The Learning Tree."
