Helen Frankenthaler
Helen Frankenthaler (1928–2011), born in New York City, was an American abstract expressionist painter known for her pioneering use of the "soak-stain" technique, which involved pouring thinned paint onto unprimed canvas. This method created vibrant, flowing compositions that bridged Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting. Frankenthaler's work is part of collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Her innovative techniques and bold use of color have left a lasting impact on modern art.
