Hiram Monserrate
Hiram Monserrate, born on July 12, 1967, is an American politician and former member of the New York City Council and the New York State Senate. Representing parts of Queens, Monserrate's career has been marked by both political achievements and controversies. He served as a Councilman from 2002 to 2008 and as a State Senator from 2009 to 2010. Monserrate was expelled from the State Senate following a misdemeanor assault conviction involving his then-girlfriend. Despite this, he continued to remain active in politics and community organizing, often focusing on issues affecting the Latino community in Queens.
