Jennifer Packer
Jennifer Packer, born in 1984 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American artist known for her expressive portraits and still lifes. She studied at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia and later received her MFA from the Yale University School of Art. Packer's work often explores themes of identity, grief, and the human condition, using a mix of observation, memory, and improvisation. Her paintings are characterized by their loose brushwork, muted palette, and sensitive handling of the subject matter. Packer has been recognized with several awards and fellowships, including the Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome in 2020. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows at prominent institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Serpentine Gallery in London, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
