Joe Lhota
Joe Lhota is an American politician and public servant who has held various roles in government and transportation. Born on October 7, 1954, in the Bronx, New York City, Lhota has been involved in both public and private sectors throughout his career. He served as the chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York City, overseeing the city's subway, bus, and commuter rail systems, from 2012 to 2013. Lhota has also been involved in New York City government, serving as the Deputy Mayor for Operations under Mayor Rudolph Giuliani from 1994 to 2001. He played a crucial role in managing the city's operations, including during the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Lhota has been affiliated with the Republican Party and ran for Mayor of New York City in 2013 but was unsuccessful in his bid. Beyond politics, Lhota has worked in the private sector, including as an executive at Madison Square Garden and Cablevision. He continues to be involved in public policy discussions, particularly regarding transportation and urban governance.
