Johannes Vermeer
Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) was a Dutch Baroque painter renowned for his masterful use of light and color in domestic interior scenes. Born in Delft, Netherlands, Vermeer spent his entire life in his hometown, where he produced a relatively small body of work, approximately 34 paintings. His most famous works, such as Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Milkmaid and View of Delft, are celebrated for their exquisite detail, serene compositions, and sophisticated treatment of light. Vermeer often depicted women engaged in everyday activities, capturing moments of quiet contemplation and domestic life. Despite his posthumous fame, Vermeer was not widely known during his lifetime and faced financial difficulties.
