Marina Abramovic
Marina Abramović, born in 1946 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia (now Serbia), is a pioneering performance artist known for her challenging and intense works that explore body art, endurance and the limits of the mind. Abramović's career spans over five decades, during which she has performed internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, where her work "The Artist Is Present" in 2010 garnered widespread acclaim. This piece, where she sat in silent encounter with strangers, highlighted her commitment to exploring the relationship between performer and audience. Abramović has received numerous awards, including the Golden Lion for Best Artist at the Venice Biennale.
