Mary Corse
Mary Corse, born in Berkeley, California in 1945, is a prominent American artist associated with the Light and Space movement. She studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara and the Chouinard Art Institute. Corse's early career focused on minimalism and the use of light as a material in her paintings. She is best known for her White Light paintings which incorporate glass microspheres to create surfaces that shift and change with the viewer's perspective. Her work explores perception and the experience of light and space. Corse's art is featured in prestigious collections such as the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She continues to be an influential figure in contemporary art.
