Newt Gingrich
Newt Gingrich is an American politician and author who served as the 50th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. Born on June 17, 1943, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Gingrich was a key figure in the Republican Party during the 1990s, known for his role in the "Contract with America," a legislative agenda that contributed to the GOP's success in the 1994 midterm elections. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district from 1979 to 1999. After resigning as Speaker amid internal party conflicts, Gingrich continued to influence politics through his writings, public speaking, and involvement in conservative advocacy. He ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012 but did not secure it.
