Romare Bearden
Romare Bearden (1911-1988) was an African American artist celebrated for his richly textured collages, which depicted African American life and culture. His work, often incorporating elements from jazz, literature, and his experiences in Harlem, New York, played a significant role in the Harlem Renaissance. Bearden’s legacy is preserved through his works in major museums, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
