Rufino Tamayo
Rufino Tamayo (1899–1991), born in Oaxaca, Mexico, was a modernist painter known for his vibrant use of color and unique synthesis of European modernism and Mexican folk traditions. His works often explored themes of Mexican identity and culture. Tamayo's art is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museo Tamayo in Mexico City, which he helped establish. His contributions to modern art have cemented his status as one of Mexico's most important 20th-century artists.
