Sir Mark Jones
Sir Mark Jones (born 1951) is a museum director and curator who is currently Interim Director of the British Museum. Renowned for his vast knowledge and expertise in the world of art and museums, Jones has made significant contributions to the arts sector in the UK. He served as the Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London from 2001 to 2011, where he championed the importance of design and the decorative arts. Before his tenure at the V&A, Jones was at the British Museum, where he held various positions, including Keeper of Coins and Medals. Under his leadership, institutions underwent transformations with new galleries, acquisitions, and a focus on broadening public accessibility and engagement.
