Janna Pea’s official bio says she focuses on “social impact, racial justice, and storytelling”. It’s hard to think of a more germane mandate, and Pea has navigated it with skill. Her work with civil rights advocacy group Color of Change has helped grow its membership nearly sevenfold this year; activists like Alicia Garza, co-founder of Black Lives Matter, trust Pea to support their media and messaging. “My work is the strongest form of protest,” Pea said. Pea, who oversees a team of 10, also runs BerlinRosen’s highly visible, multi-pronged work for the Ford Foundation.
