Sometimes, power in PR means keeping quiet. Though Nate Hinton’s grown his indie firm alongside white-hot clients like Pyer Moss and Public School, he realized—unlike some—that this was not a business-as-usual year.

“Knowing what not to do is important in this moment, being able to say no, to not overextend or over-communicate,” Hinton told Vogue in a glowing September profile. “When COVID first hit, my advice to my clients was, do not jump on trains. When the racial unrest happened—don’t jump on trains. Listen to people. Listen to what they want. Listen to what they need.”

Hinton did make some noise though (actually, a lot of it), for Your Friends in New York, the Kering-backed online platform aimed at young creatives from Pyer Moss founder Kerby-Jean Raymond. Along with new clients like Hanifa, ARMY, and Slow Factory, Hinton also handled projects for Black artists’ collective Art Noir, Canadian brand Reigning Champ, Google and IMG Lens.
