Asian Art Museum of San Francisco
The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco is located at 200 Larkin Street, San Francisco, CA. The institution was established in 1966 and is dedicated to the collection, preservation and interpretation of Asian art and culture. Located in the Civic Center, it is housed in a historic building that was formerly the city’s Main Library, redesigned by architect Gae Aulenti. The museum’s extensive collection includes over 18,000 objects spanning 6,000 years, featuring artworks from China, Japan, Korea, India and Southeast Asia. Notable pieces include a 6th-century Chinese Buddha triad and a collection of Japanese samurai armor.
