Russia’s communist party is attempting to copyright its most recognizable symbol, which also happens to be used by a slew of commercial enterprises such as Macy’s, Heineken and San Pellegrino water.
In 1983, two bronze sculptures were stolen from Hirschl & Adler Gallery in New York within a span of three weeks. On both occasions thieves made off with the works in the middle of the day. Now, 32 years later, the artworks by Paul Manship and Prince Paul Troubetzkoy have resurfaced.
