Morgan Library
The Morgan Library (The Morgan) is located at 225 Madison Avenue at 36th Street, New York, NY 10016. The museum was founded in 1906 by financier J.P. Morgan. Originally a private library, it became a public institution in 1924. The Morgan houses an extensive collection of rare books, manuscripts, drawings and artifacts. Highlights include medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, a Gutenberg Bible and original works by authors such as Charles Dickens and Mark Twain. The museum’s complex, designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, combines Morgan’s original library with modern exhibition spaces.
