Museum of Fine Arts Boston

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) was founded in 1870 by a group of Boston civic leaders, including Charles Callahan Perkins, to provide a public space for the appreciation of art. The museum’s permanent collection boasts nearly 500,000 works, including masterpieces by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, John Singer Sargent and Winslow Homer. The MFA’s diverse holdings range from ancient Egyptian artifacts and Asian art to European paintings and contemporary works, making it one of the most comprehensive art museums in the world.
