National Gallery of Victoria

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), established in 1861, is the oldest and largest public art museum in Australia. Located in Melbourne, it comprises two buildings: NGV International, which focuses on art from around the world, and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, dedicated to Australian art. The museum’s collection includes over 75,000 works spanning thousands of years, featuring European, Asian, Oceanic and American art, as well as significant Australian indigenous and contemporary pieces. NGV is known for its diverse exhibitions, educational programs, and public events, which attract millions of visitors annually. The institution also plays a significant role in art research and conservation. Read more about Museums.
