Eight Is Enough: Will a Democratic President Ever Replace Scalia?

President Obama would be foolish and cowardly to be intimidated out of making an appointment to succeed Justice Scalia. Supporters of the President, however, should be comforted to know that Mr. Obama clearly intends to fill this vacancy by appointing somebody himself. Republicans in the Senate and elsewhere who are pressuring Mr. Obama not to make this appointment are being bullying and ham-fisted, and accomplish nothing for the conservative cause by pursuing this approach.
