OpenAI’s original mission involved developing “friendly” artificial general intelligence, or AGI, for the betterment of humanity. In 2023, the company launched a premium service tier for users of its chatbot (ChatGPT Plus), released its technology as an API, and in partnership with Microsoft, debuted the AI-powered Bing chatbot.
