The Philadelphia Museum of Art was founded in 1876 during the Centennial Exposition to celebrate the nation’s 100th anniversary, promoting art education and appreciation. The museum is best known for its extensive collection of American art, its impressive holdings of European masters, and the iconic “Rocky Steps” featured in the “Rocky” films. The permanent collection includes works by renowned artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Marcel Duchamp, Picasso and Thomas Eakins, showcasing a diverse range of art from various periods and cultures.
