Rodin Museum

The Rodin Museum was founded by French sculptor Auguste Rodin himself. He donated his entire collection of sculptures, drawings and other works, as well as his archives and the Hôtel Biron (where the museum is housed), to the French state in 1916. Rodin’s motivation for this donation was to preserve his legacy and ensure that his works would be accessible to the public. The museum officially opened in 1919, three years after Rodin’s death, and it remains a major cultural institution dedicated to his life and art.
