Sokolow Theater Dance Ensemble

Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble, based in New York City, was founded in 1999 by Jim May to preserve and perform the works of the legendary choreographer Anna Sokolow. The ensemble is known for its commitment to maintaining the legacy of Sokolow’s powerful and socially conscious choreography, which often addresses themes of human experience and social justice. The company performs Sokolow’s original works and new pieces inspired by her artistic vision. It also engages in educational and outreach programs to promote the understanding and appreciation of modern dance. The Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble continues to be a vital force in the dance community, honoring the enduring impact of Anna Sokolow’s contributions to the art form. Read more about Dance.
