Tenement Museum
The Tenement Museum is located at 103 Orchard Street, New York, NY and was founded in 1988. The museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of immigrant and working-class families in America. It is housed in two historic tenement buildings that were home to over 15,000 people from more than 20 nations between 1863 and 2011. The museum offers guided tours of the restored apartments, providing insights into the lives of past residents such as the Levine, Moore and Baldizzi families. The Tenement Museum also hosts walking tours of the neighborhood, educational programs and public events, fostering a deeper understanding of the immigrant experience in New York City.
